Some people stumble into real estate by chance. For me, it was a calling born from a lifetime of searching for safe ground.
I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for safe homes, and I owe that to my family and upbringing. We lived in a rough neighborhood; I had to learn to throw punches early on to guard myself. But through it all, our home was a safe haven in the middle of chaos. Neighbor kids would come hang out at our house just to escape the turmoil at home or on the streets. That experience gave me a deep sense of how important it is to have a place where you feel safe. Still, it would take me years to realize that real estate was the path where I could bring that same feeling to others.
Directly out of high school, I joined the military to escape the chaos of my neighborhood and channel all that fighting energy into a career. The military immediately felt like home. I loved the camaraderie and the unbreakable bonds that form when you go through challenges side by side.
I became a Combat Corpsman for the Navy, working with the Fleet Marine Force. My job was to provide medical support, on the ground, to the Marines. It was intense, humbling, and deeply humane work.

Then came 9/11. I’ll never forget that day—being on standby, waiting for orders, feeling the collective terror and uncertainty. My mom panicked. She wanted me to come home, and I could hear the worry in her voice. I understood her completely. After years of service, I retired from the military and returned to Charlotte, ready to start a new chapter.
My transition into civilian life led me to work for a property management company and for Habitat for Humanity. The profits went toward eliminating poverty housing — something that hit close to home for me. I’ve always had a caring heart, so knowing that my work directly helped families build stability gave me purpose.
During that time, I also earned my real estate license, which complemented my work as a property manager perfectly. Business grew steadily, and before long, I left Habitat for Humanity to focus fully on my real estate career. Helping people find a dignified home — a place that was safe and welcoming — truly meant the world to me.

Then, life surprised me with another blessing. In 2017, while celebrating my birthday, I met Tommy. We hit it off right away, and two years later, we were married. A few years later, we adopted two amazing children through a foster-to-adopt program — Whisper, who’s now 7, and Chance, who’s now 5.
I am so proud of my children, and they are my greatest accomplishment in life. They’re bright, curious, and thriving in school and sports. Fatherhood continues to teach me patience and unconditional love in a way I didn’t know was possible. Watching them grow reminds me daily of why I value the concept of “home” so deeply — because home isn’t just a structure. It’s where you feel safe enough to be yourself, to dream, to love freely.
We love camping together, fishing, and spending time outdoors. I also have a passion for cars — I never miss a good car show. I also make it a point to volunteer regularly at food banks.
Looking back, my path from a rough neighborhood kid to a Navy career, to a real estate professional and father, feels like it was always guided by one mission: to create safety and belonging wherever I go.
I see myself as an ambassador for Charlotte. As a native and local expert, I know the city’s neighborhoods inside and out, and I love introducing clients to everything Charlotte has to offer. I often connect newcomers with community and activity groups so they can find their people and feel at home. I’m also deeply connected within the real estate community, with a strong network of REALTORS®, contractors, and service professionals who can help address all housing needs.
I work with everyone. When it comes to housing, it’s important to me that no one is left behind. I don’t judge people based on their background, faith, or financial situation. I care about people, and I take the time to listen and understand what they truly need. Whether I’m helping a family find their first home, a seller move on to their next chapter, or an investor secure a property with great returns, my goal is always the same: to serve with integrity and deliver results.
Sincerely,

Jim Hall
